How Buyers Today are Beginning Their Search for Homes
% of Buyers
Around 2008 to 2009, the paradigm for finding a home shifted. Before this time, most buyers would visit the real estate agent and at the agents office, look at the homes available on the market. Then hours were spent driving about looking at properties. Today, when the buyers visit an agent, they have already previewed the property, checked out the neighborhood, and evaluated the schools. In addition, a Virtual Tour is usually available for meandering through a home. Now, it's simply a matter of going directly to the few properties of interest ---- choosing the one the buyers like best --- and then making an offer. The process of finding a home has become very efficient for both the agent and buyer.
The demands on the Real Estate agent to be very fluent using the Internet and other computer tools are now quite high.
